Morocco’s King Mohammed VI Mourns Passing of Renowned Women’s Rights Activist Aicha Ech-Chenna

Following the death last Sunday of Aïcha Ech-Channa, King Mohammed VI sent a message of condolences and compassion to the members of the activist’s family.

In his message to the family and loved ones of Aïcha Ech-Channa, the king states that "he learned with deep affliction and deep emotion the news of the death of the late Aïcha Ech-Channa," who died at the age of 81, "imploring the Almighty to accept her among the virtuous faithful and to welcome her in his vast paradise."

In this painful circumstance, the king expresses to the members of the deceased’s family, and through them to all their loved ones, as well as to the friends and admirers of the late Aïcha Ech-Channa, his heartfelt condolences and sincere feelings of compassion. The king remembers the deceased as "one of the pioneers of associative action and the defense of human rights in Morocco, who dedicated her life to the service of Moroccan women and the defense of their causes with so much strength, audacity and selflessness, which earned her the love and respect of the people."

The sovereign also salutes the great qualities of the late, her sincere patriotism and her spirit of activism and humanism, praying the Most High to grant patience and comfort to the members of her family, to surround the late Aïcha Ech-Channa with his infinite mercy and to reward her abundantly for the commendable services rendered to her Homeland.
