Morocco's King Leads Socially Distanced Eid al-Fitr Prayer Amid COVID-19 Restrictions

King Mohammed VI performed the Eid al-Fitr prayer on Sunday, May 24, 2020, the 1st of Shawwal 1441 of the Hegira, surrounded by the Crown Prince, Moulay El Hassan and Prince Moulay Rachid.

This prayer without a sermon was performed in compliance with the health confinement and the measures taken by the kingdom to counter the covid-19 pandemic.

For the first time, the Muslim community celebrated Eid al-Fitr outside the mosques, in compliance with the preventive measures enacted by the health authorities to curb the coronavirus pandemic.
