Morocco’s King Launches New 75 Million Dirham Medical Center in Fez

Friday 6 March 2020, by Ginette

It was in the Bensouda district in the Zouagha district of Fez that King Mohammed VI proceeded on Wednesday to launch the construction work of a "Proximity Medical Center (CMP)". The future Proximity Medical Center is part of a program led by the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity providing for the realization at the level of the Kingdom of ten Proximity Medical Centers of this type.

At a total cost of 75 million dirhams, this center is intended to strengthen the health offer at the level of the city of Fez. This project responds to the need to bring health infrastructures closer to populations from high-density neighborhoods. It will also accelerate interventions in case of medical emergency and ensure regular and regular medical follow-up of people whose state of health requires specialized consultations.

The future Proximity Medical Center of the Bensouda district will thus be added to the Centers inaugurated by the King in the El Youssoufia district in Rabat and Sidi Moumen in Casablanca, and to those already completed in Témara, in the Beni Makada district in Tangier and in the new town of Errahma in Casablanca. There is also a center under construction in Hay Karima in Salé, and three others are in the process of being programmed in the Lissassfa district in Casablanca, in Agadir and in Marrakech. Instructions have also been given by Mohammed VI for the realization of two additional Proximity Medical Centers in Fez and Tangier.

The new Center, which will be built on a 14,080 m² plot, will have a proximity emergency medical pole, a specialized consultation pole and a medico-technical pole with an operating room. It will also have a Mother-Child Health pole, housing a technical delivery unit and examination and care rooms for newborns. In short, the center that will be built will be a high-end hospital for all specialties.

The result of a partnership between the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity, the Ministry of Health, the Fez-Meknes Regional Council and the Fez Municipal Council, this project will be carried out within 24 months. It thus adds to all the various actions carried out by the Foundation in the medical and humanitarian fields, showing its commitment to the well-being and prosperity of underprivileged populations.
