Morocco’s El Khannouss Hails Ziyech as Mentor, Affirms Own Unique Style

Very close to Hakim Ziyech, Bilal El Khannouss sees the former Galatasaray player as his mentor. The Moroccan winger of Leicester City has recently reaffirmed all the admiration and respect he has for the star of Al Duhail.
In a statement to the Dutch press, El Khannouss acknowledged that his playing style is similar to Ziyech’s, but stressed that he is "unique in [his] own way". "Hakim is a great player and a wonderful person. He’s a bit like an older brother to me, but I’m not trying to measure up to him," he confided.
The Moroccan international (20 caps) says he has benefited from Ziyech’s support since his early days with the Atlas Lions, before the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. "From my first call-up, I traveled with him to Qatar. We developed a great relationship. I still call him sometimes, we stay in touch. He’s really like an older brother to me."
El Khannouss arrived at Leicester this summer from KRC Genk for €20.5 million. The Moroccan winger is thriving under the orders of Ruud van Nistelrooij. Since the start of the season, he has scored three goals and provided four assists in 30 matches. The 20-year-old player hopes to shine even more and surpass his mentor who now plays for Al Duhail.
