Morocco Kerosene Supply Restored at Airports After Shortage

Morocco officially ended, early this Monday morning, the exceptional measures governing aircraft refueling at the Kingdom’s airports. This return to normal follows the resumption of unloading operations at the port of Jorf Lasfar, where the delivery of hydrocarbons had been paralyzed by unfavorable weather conditions.

Stock pressures were eased thanks to the docking of a vessel carrying approximately 35,000 tonnes of kerosene. The tanker, which had remained stranded offshore for more than two weeks due to heavy swells, was finally able to deliver its cargo, Hespress reports. This new supply makes it possible to cover the temporary shortfall and secure fuel supplies for the national and international air fleets.

In response to the logistical disruptions, the National Airports Office (ONDA) had activated preventive protocols in coordination with the supervisory ministry. Airlines operating short- and medium-haul flights, particularly those arriving from Europe, had been asked to practice “tankering,” meaning landing with full fuel tanks to limit consumption on Moroccan soil and extend the period covered by reserves.
