Flights resumed at Tetouan after preventive closure of the airport

Air traffic is resuming its normal course in the north of the country. After forty-eight hours of interruption, ONDA lifted the preventive closure measures of Tetouan airport this Saturday, January 31, 2026. This decision follows a series of technical evaluations validating the complete restoration of safety conditions, heavily disrupted by an exceptional weather event.

Key points of the return to normal:

• Validated safety: The inspections carried out with the Ministry of Transport and Logistics confirm that all facilities are ready to welcome users.

• Cleared runway: The massive pumping operations have made it possible to fully clear the runway and traffic areas.

• Ongoing maintenance: Although operations have resumed, the technical teams maintain an active pumping system to prevent any new risk of accumulation.

The Ministry of Transport had ordered the suspension of activities last Thursday to preserve the safety of air navigation in the face of the intensity of the rainfall. ONDA recalls that this measure, although constraining for travelers, was essential to protect the infrastructure and avoid any incident during the approach or takeoff phase.
