Morocco Joins OIC Emergency Meeting on Israeli-Palestinian Escalation

At the invitation of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Morocco is taking part in the emergency meeting initiated by the institution on the Israeli escalation in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. This meeting is held in preparation for the session of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, which will examine this recent escalation.
Three personalities are carrying Morocco’s voice at this meeting. They are Fouad Akherif, Director of the Middle East, Gulf and Arab and Islamic Organizations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Abdel Rahim Meziane, Head of the Department of Arab and Islamic Organizations at the same Ministry and Abdallah Babah, Deputy Permanent Representative of Morocco to the OIC.
The meeting is focused on the recent Israeli escalation. Indeed, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu intends to annex, in the event of his re-election on September 17, the Jordan Valley, the northern part of the Dead Sea and all the settlements in the West Bank.
At this meeting, the participants will closely examine the political and legal measures to be taken to counter this desire. The Jordan Valley constitutes about 30% of the West Bank, a Palestinian territory occupied by Israel since 1967, and represents a strategic region for the future Palestinian state, it is specified.
