Morocco Reaffirms Support for Palestinian Cause at Arab League Meeting

Morocco maintains its position on the Palestinian issue and hopes that the countries involved in resolving this crisis will succeed in reaching a fair and definitive solution that can do justice to the Palestinian people. It reiterated this on Saturday in Cairo during an extraordinary meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the Arab League Council.
In his speech during this meeting, which aims to examine the American peace plan for the Middle East, Mohcine Jazouli, Minister Delegate to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Residing Abroad, stressed that the resolution of the Palestinian crisis is "the key to stability in the Middle East".
He also pointed out that "Morocco hopes that a constructive dynamic of peace will be launched in order to reach a realistic, just, lasting and applicable solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, in order to preserve the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people to an independent and sovereign state with East Jerusalem as its capital, so as to enable the peoples of the region to live in dignity, prosperity and stability," reports the MAP.
According to Jazouli, Morocco "has always advocated that negotiation between the two parties be the preferred approach to reaching any solution, while maintaining an openness to dialogue". "The acceptance by the parties of the various elements is fundamental for the implementation and sustainability of this plan," he said, noting in this context that "if the economic dimension is important, it must be complemented by a political dimension".
That is why, he explained, the Kingdom considers that "the status of Jerusalem must be preserved and that the final decision must be the subject of discussions between the parties in accordance with international legality".
Morocco is represented at this meeting, which was held in the presence of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, by a delegation led by Mohcine Jazouli and composed of the Moroccan ambassador to Cairo and his permanent representative to the Arab League, Ahmed Tazi, the director of the Middle East, Gulf, Arab and Islamic organizations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Residing Abroad, Fouad Akhrif, and the head of the Arab and Islamic Organizations Division within this ministry, Abderrahim Mouzian, the same source specifies.
