Morocco to Introduce Enhanced Biometric National ID Cards in 2024

The General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) will launch new biometric national identity cards next year, which promise to be more secure.
This is what the DGSN indicated in its review of the year 2018, specifying that it had issued "2,185,909 biometric national identity cards (CIN) and are preparing to launch a new modern generation of CIN next year, respecting enhanced security measures".
It also states that it issued 1,197,795 anthropometric records in 2018 "through the adoption of a new computer application for processing foreigners’ residence permit applications, which made it possible to settle all pending files and reduce the processing time".
In addition, 53,328 residence permits were issued to foreign nationals in 2018, as well as 67,642 entry visas at national border posts, 4,309 exceptional residence permits and 840 extensions of stays, the DGSN also explains.
