14 Dead, Nearly 2,000 Injured in Morocco’s Urban Traffic Accidents Last Week

The Moroccan road continues to kill as shown once again by the figures just published by the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN).
During the week from December 31, 2018 to January 6, 2019, 14 people were killed and 1,912 others were injured, including 85 seriously, in 1,484 traffic accidents that occurred in urban areas, according to a press release.
The DGSN blames the inattention of pedestrians and drivers, non-compliance with traffic lights and stop signs, lack of vehicle control, non-compliance with priority, speeding, driving in the left lane and in the wrong direction, driving under the influence of alcohol, unauthorized lane changes and defective overtaking.
As for the offenses, the police issued 36,696 tickets and drew up 11,758 reports that were submitted to the public prosecutor’s office, while 24,938 transaction fines were paid by motorists.
