Morocco Intensifies Crackdown on Ecstasy Trafficking at Border Crossings

The Minister of the Interior, Abdelouafi Laftit, and his collaborators, are waging a relentless fight against ecstasy, in order to dry up the sources of drug trafficking at the border posts of Ceuta and Melilla, and along the borders of the Oriental region.
Abdelouafi Laftit has given instructions to the various security services to effectively combat drug trafficking, through the strengthening of security control measures and the intensification of field interventions and operations, according to Al Ahdath Al Maghribia.
The General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) has, in a statement, indicated that there has been a significant increase in the number of ecstasy seizures, carried out in recent weeks. On February 5th last, the prefectural judicial police service of Oujda had seized 50,000 psychotropic "ecstasy" tablets and a significant sum of money.
In 2019, the fight against the trafficking of psychotropic drugs and ecstasy has borne fruit. In total, the Moroccan police have seized more than 1.3 million units.
