Ferry Collision Disrupts Algeciras Port: Marhaba Operation Faces Setback

The port of Algeciras (Cadiz) had to suspend operations in one of its four berths due to the collision of a ferry against its barriers.
The incident occurred on Thursday around 8:00 PM, after a ship of the Africa Morocco Link (AML) company flying the Italian flag and operating the Tangier-Cadiz route, hit with its port side fin two barriers of the second passenger terminal berth, explains the Port Authority of the Bay of Algeciras (APBA) to EFE.
The collision occurred as the 186-meter-long vessel was about to dock in Algeciras from Morocco as part of the Marhaba Operation. No human damage was reported. However, the berth barriers were damaged, preventing the resumption of operations at this terminal.
Despite the incident, the rest of Thursday went normally at the port of Algeciras, which has infrastructure to ensure the safe disembarkation of passengers.
