Morocco to Install 552 New Traffic Radars Nationwide, Boosting Road Safety
The Ministry of Equipment has just announced the purchase of new fixed radars for Moroccan roads. Thus, details have just been provided on the call for tenders for the acquisition of 552 latest generation radars.
According to the daily Aujourd’hui le Maroc, which reports the information, there are 552 latest generation radars, including "72 average speed control devices on motorways, 276 speed control devices outside urban areas, 204 devices for controlling compliance with traffic lights and speed in urban areas".
The Ministry of Equipment indicated that these new devices will be installed throughout the regions of the Kingdom. Regarding the Grouping awarded the contract, the newspaper reports that it is composed of three companies, namely "the Moroccan Group, El Omra International (lead company of the Grouping), the German Company, Vitronic, and the Emirati Company, Vitronic Middle East".
A judicious distribution of these radars is planned throughout the different regions of the Kingdom. To stick to the information provided by the ministry, the particularity of these new radars, which will soon be installed, is that in addition to detecting speeding and traffic light offenses, they can detect more than one vehicle at a time, up to 24, to name only these characteristics.
