Morocco’s Housing Assistance Program Draws Strong Interest from Expats and Locals

Since its opening on January 2, the housing assistance website has been experiencing growing success, particularly among Moroccans living abroad.
Mustapha Baitas, government spokesman, confirmed during a press conference held after the government council meeting that, as of January 31, 41,662 people have requested this housing assistance.
The minister also indicated that 76% of these requests are for housing priced at no more than 300,000 dirhams, while 24% of the requests concern housing priced between 300,000 and 700,000 dirhams.
He also specified that 81% of the applicants are Moroccans living in Morocco and 19% are Moroccans living abroad.
According to the official, 63% of the applicants are men and 37% are women, stating that the average age of the applicants is 40 years old, which fits the objective of the project, intended largely for young people and those planning to get married.
This decree defining the conditions for state aid for the purchase of the main residence provides for direct financial assistance for the purchase of a primary residence. Beneficiaries will be able to receive aid of 100,000 dirhams for the purchase of a home of 300,000 dirhams or less. For homes priced between 300,000 and 700,000 dirhams, aid of 70,000 dirhams will be granted.
