Morocco's Al Hoceima Port Upgrades to Welcome Diaspora Travelers

Commercial passenger traffic will soon resume at the port of Al Hoceima, in anticipation, no doubt, of the arrival of Moroccans residing abroad (MREs). The National Ports Agency (ANP), the Regional Investment Center of Tanger-Tetouan-Al Hoceima and the local authorities are actively working on the project.

To improve the attractiveness and services of the port of Al Hoceima, and increase its reception capacity, massive investments of more than 700 million dirhams have been made between 2015 and 2021, said Adil El Bardi, the port director, in an interview with the MAP.

In this context, developments have been carried out at the maritime part of the leisure area, in order to develop port activities and tourism in Al Hoceima, said El Bardi, adding that the main barrier of the port facilities has also been reinforced to ensure more security within the port. The same applies to the slopes adjacent to the marinas and the maritime fishing ports, informs the port director who also announced the completion of the reinforcement work on the quays of the area dedicated to maritime fishing.

Other works will also be launched in the coming days, and in particular concern the maintenance of the exterior facade and port facilities, the development of roads and the reinforcement of the slopes adjacent to the port, assures El Bardi, specifying that all these works contribute to the improvement of the port’s development plan and are part of an integrated development vision of the area.
