Casablanca Builds New Cruise Terminal to Boost Tourism and Port Infrastructure

In order to strengthen the port infrastructure, the National Ports Agency (ANP) has launched the construction of the new terminal cruise terminal at the port of Casablanca. The economic capital is positioning itself as one of the pillars of the country’s tourist attractiveness.
Mobilizing investments, this project, which consists of the construction of a new cruise terminal with comfort works, will eventually allow a restructuring and rehabilitation of the port area of Casablanca.
The cruise terminal aims to support tourism projects and strengthen the attractiveness of the metropolis in line with the 2020 Vision. With a capacity to accommodate 450,000 cruise passengers per year, it will also meet the growing demand from travel agencies for cruise tourism.
According to the ANP, the infrastructure will be attached to the Moulay Youssef jetty of the port, at the level of the former oil station. It will be able to accommodate ships up to 350 m long and 45 m wide, with a depth of 9 meters. Similarly, the development of a maritime station meeting international standards is planned on its land.
"The ANP aims to establish, in the long term, the port of Casablanca at the level of the starting point for this traffic (starting point of the cruise). The new cruise terminal will therefore have nothing to envy in terms of organization, management, security and safety, to similar facilities in other international port cities specialized in the reception of cruise ships," the agency assures.
