Morocco: Al Hoceima Hotel Houses Homeless to Combat COVID-19 Spread

Homeless people have been housed since Monday in a hotel in the city of Al Hoceima, as part of the implementation of the preventive measures announced by the local authorities to fight against the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.

More than twenty-five homeless and underprivileged people were initially placed at the "Amir Plage" hotel located at the entrance of the city.

According to Khalid El Bouchraoui, one of the promoters of this initiative, this operation aims to preserve human dignity and protect this vulnerable social category in the circumstances the country is going through. For the promoter, these people will sleep at the hotel and benefit from the meals of the day, namely breakfast, lunch and dinner, in addition to clothes, hygiene products and necessary medical examinations.

El Bouchraoui did not fail to call on benefactors to mobilize and engage in these social and humanitarian initiatives, particularly in this situation facing Morocco and the world, by supporting vulnerable categories by providing them with essential food products.

It should be noted that this charitable and humanitarian initiative was organized by the "Amir Plage" hotel in Al Hoceima, in collaboration with the Ahad association and the local authorities. As for the 55 people blocked at the bus station, they were transported on Monday to their cities, on the initiative of the province of Al Hoceima.
