Morocco’s Al Hoceima Airport to Undergo $21 Million Expansion Project

The extension work on Al Hoceima airport, planned by the National Airports Office (ONDA), will soon begin. They will be carried out by the Moroccan company VIAS, specialized in road, highway and airport works.
VIAS has indeed won the tender for this contract, launched last April, for the realization of this infrastructure, for an amount of 210.9 million dirhams, indicates a press release from the office, specifying that the company was in particular in competition for this contract with the company "Les Grands Travaux Routiers".
Concretely, the work concerns the extension of the runway by 700 linear meters, the reinforcement and extension of the aircraft parking lot, the construction of aeronautical infrastructures allowing the reception of B747-800 and a new control tower, for a total budget of 255 million dirhams.
The objective is to meet the growing needs of air traffic and offer the best reception conditions for passengers, the same source points out.
