Morocco’s High-Speed Rail Revolution: TGV to Connect Airports from Rabat to Marrakech
In Rabat-Salé, major works are underway to accommodate the future high-speed line. The objective? To integrate the TGV within the airport itself, with a direct link to Marrakech.
The perimeter of Rabat-Salé airport is undergoing major infrastructure work to integrate the high-speed line. A construction site is currently dedicated to the creation of the future train route, which involves earthworks for the tracks and tunnels.
The objective of this extension is to establish a direct link for the Al Boraq line between Kénitra and Marrakech. The service has been designed to serve several strategic points of interest, including a stop at the large stadium in Benslimane as well as direct connections with the Rabat-Salé and Casablanca airports.
Simultaneously, a second project carried out on the same site is in the final phase. This is the new airport terminal, the stages of structural construction, slab laying and cladding of which are now complete.
The technical teams are now focusing on the final fittings. These include the commissioning of electrical and air conditioning systems, as well as the installation of passenger equipment. Particular attention is being paid to the installation of large-scale anti-vibration structures, a technical device necessary due to the proximity of the runways and aircraft parking areas.
