Morocco’s Ambitious Rail Tunnel Propels Nation Toward High-Speed Future

Work on a new high-speed rail (TGV) tunnel has begun in Rabat. This strategic structure, 3.3 kilometers long and estimated to cost 1.41 billion dirhams, is part of a broader plan to strengthen the Kingdom’s infrastructure in preparation for major upcoming events.
The main objective is to meet the increasing demand for high-speed travel by increasing the capacity of the line. By improving the fluidity of train traffic, this tunnel should help reduce travel times while enhancing quality and safety standards for passengers. It also aims to strengthen the connection between the capital and the country’s other major hubs.
This large-scale project is announced as respecting the latest technical and engineering standards, with particular attention paid to environmental aspects and safety measures. Ultimately, this project is intended to be a qualitative addition to the high-speed network and consolidate Morocco’s position as a modern and sustainable transportation hub in the region.
