Taza Airport Overhaul: Morocco's 2030 World Cup Ambitions Take Flight

The technical studies for the complete rehabilitation of the Sidi Hammou Miftah airport have been launched in Taza. This initiative is part of a development project aimed at ensuring that the province’s infrastructure is ready before the 2030 World Cup deadline, and is intended to strengthen the region’s connection with its national and international environment.

The project plans a major renovation of the airport’s main building. It is intended to house administrative offices, a passenger waiting room, sanitary facilities, and a cafeteria. These facilities are designed for travelers and users of the airport platform.

On the technical side, the work includes the construction of a new air traffic control tower. A main hangar, which will house the technical equipment necessary for the proper functioning of the airport, will also be built as part of this modernization.

The airport’s capacity will be increased through the development of a 1.6-kilometer-long runway, a dimension that will allow it to accommodate large commercial aircraft. To facilitate user access, the project also includes the creation of a vehicle parking lot and the redevelopment of the main road leading to the airport, in order to ensure smooth traffic flow.

This project is expected to constitute a qualitative transformation for the province’s infrastructure. It should help strengthen Taza’s economic and investment attractiveness, and consolidate its position as a strategic area that deserves to be opened up to the different regions of the Kingdom.
