Morocco’s High-Speed Rail Project: 4 New Stations Planned for Marrakech-Agadir Line

The high-speed line connecting Marrakech to Agadir will include three stations for passengers and one dedicated to freight, announced the head of the delegation of the Chinese company CRDC, in charge of the project studies.
The head of the Chinese delegation revealed during a meeting with the governor of the province of Chichaoua, attended by provincial elected officials, that three stations dedicated to passengers will be built as part of the Marrakech - Agadir high-speed rail project. These are the Sidi Zouine station, the Chichaoua station and the Agadir station. A station specially dedicated to freight will be installed in Agadir, he added.
The official also stressed the positive impact of this project on the lives and daily lives of citizens, highlighting the reduction in travel time of more than an hour and a half compared to the conventional rail line. The high-speed line could reach a speed of 320 km/h in flat areas, and a lower speed of 220 km/h in mountainous areas like the Argana region. Regarding freight transport, its speed will be 100 km/h in flat areas and 70 km/h in mountainous areas.
The elected officials of the province of Chichaoua expressed on this occasion their commitment to the success of this project, which will contribute to the economic development of Morocco in the perspective of the organization of the 2030 World Cup with Spain and Portugal. The local authorities intend to spare no effort to support the design office in achieving its objectives.
