Morocco Denies Awarding Marrakech-Agadir High-Speed Rail Project to Chinese Firm

The National Railway Office (ONCF) denied the information, which Bladi.net had reported, that it had awarded the realization of the Marrakech-Agadir High Speed Line to a Chinese company, describing it as "totally erroneous".
In a press release, the Office confirms that it has awarded the preliminary design studies for the Marrakech-Agadir High Speed Line to the Chinese design firm CRDC (China Railway Design Corporation), stressing that there has never been any question of the project’s realization.
The ONCF specifies that the Chinese design firm was selected following an international call for tenders in which several other firms participated, its offer being the best.
"Once the high-speed line project is finalized and after all the studies, an implementation plan with all the components will be adopted. It will be the subject of adequate and transparent communication," concludes the ONCF.
