Morocco to help an African country create its air force

The commitment was made during the visit to Morocco by the chief of staff of the Armed Forces of Liberia, General Davidson F. Forleh, from September 6 to 14. The visit aimed to implement the military cooperation agreement signed between the two countries on October 21, 2025, in Rabat, reports FrontPageAfrica, based on a statement from the Liberian army.

The most important aspect concerns the creation of an air component within the Liberian forces. Morocco has undertaken to support its establishment and entry into service, particularly by training pilots, technicians and other qualified personnel.

In this context, the Liberian delegation visited the Royal Air Force Inspectorate as well as an air transport base. It also visited the Royal College of Higher Military Education, which declared itself ready to host officers from Liberia.

Morocco will simultaneously provide commando training to a Liberian detachment the size of a company. Four vehicles, including a command vehicle, are also to be delivered, along with training equipment and several selected items of equipment.

General Davidson F. Forleh was received on September 8 in Rabat by Lieutenant General Mohammed Berrid, Inspector General of the FAR and commander of the Southern Zone. The delegation then visited the first parachute brigade and Mohammed V Military Hospital.

The discussions also covered military health. The two armies are considering training programs, exchanges between specialists, technical assistance and the treatment in Morocco of certain medical cases requiring specialized care.

Cooperation is also expected to extend to the navy. Meetings are planned with the Royal Navy Inspectorate and the Naval Academy to help Liberia strengthen its maritime operations and the capabilities of its coast guard.

A joint military commission will be tasked with turning these commitments into annual programs, with priorities, training quotas and a precise schedule. Morocco will therefore not limit itself to providing equipment: it will participate directly in training Liberian military personnel and creating new air, land and maritime capabilities.
