Morocco’s Military Prowess Grows Through Elite Joint Exercises

Regarding the "Jebel Sahara 2025" exercise, several Moroccan military formations, including units from the Royal Gendarmerie, the first and second paratrooper infantry brigades of the Royal Armed Forces, are training with units from the British Armed Forces, including the Royal Gibraltar Regiment. Participating in the "Chergui 2025" maneuvers in the Errachidia region are units from the Royal Moroccan Armed Forces and the French army, including elements from the 5th Combat Helicopter Brigade, a section from the 1st Hunter Brigade, a unit from the 1st Rifle Brigade, and a command unit from the 4th Combat Aviation Brigade (4th BAC).

"The intensification of military maneuvers with developed countries and permanent members of the Security Council, known for their military power, has positive repercussions on the Royal Moroccan Army," analyzes military affairs expert Abderrahmane Mekkaoui. In a statement to Achkayen, he explained that "each military maneuver is an opportunity for the Royal Armed Forces to simulate certain strategies, operational techniques and sophisticated weapons, which results in positive effects and added value in the development of the Moroccan army, whether in the land, air, naval or electronic forces."

For the military expert, Morocco, as a "strategic ally of NATO and the great powers that are permanent members of the Security Council, has accumulated experience in military operational strategies and techniques, which makes it sought after by many developed countries conducting tests on new weapons produced by military industrial complexes, whether in the United Kingdom, France or the United States. These weapons belong to the fifth and sixth generations, which allows Morocco to make considerable progress in the modernization of its military arsenal and to place it at the level of the great armies, in accordance with the vision of King Mohammed VI, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces."

And he concludes: "The diversity of weapons in the Moroccan army’s arsenal sometimes leads it to carry out maneuvers in permanent member countries of the Security Council, but not part of the Atlantic Alliance, such as Russia, China, South Korea and Brazil. This is an added value that strengthens the transformation of the Royal Army into a deterrent regional force that must be taken very seriously."
