Morocco heat wave 45°C temperatures alert May

For several days, the mercury continues to rise. This Monday, May 25, the General Directorate of Meteorology (DGM) maintains its alert level to warn the population of these very harsh climatic conditions. The Saharan provinces and the southeast of the country are bearing the brunt of this heat wave. In Laâyoune, Boujdour, Es-Semara and Oued Ed-Dahab, the thermometer shows values oscillating between 42 and 45 degrees. These intense heat waves also affect Assa-Zag, Aousserd, Tarfaya and Tan-Tan, requiring great caution from residents facing these thermal variations, characteristic of the transition between spring and early summer.

This bubble of scorching air does not spare the rest of the territory. From Fès to Marrakech, passing through Meknès, Kénitra, Khouribga, Settat and Béni Mellal, the readings indicate highs ranging from 37 to 42 degrees, also affecting several rural areas in the center. Even the Atlantic coast, usually cooled by the ocean, is feeling this strong pressure. Until Tuesday, the Rabat, Salé, Skhirat and Agadir regions are expecting to approach 41 degrees. The agglomerations of Casablanca, El Jadida and Mohammedia will still record stifling temperatures between 34 and 38 degrees.
