Morocco’s Hardest-Hit Region Considers Chinese Offer to Build COVID-19 Hospital
The Casablanca-Settat region is the most affected by the coronavirus in Morocco, according to data from the Ministry of Health. To reverse the trend, the regional authorities are mobilizing to take strong action.
The President of the Regional Council, Mustapha Bakkoury, examined the fight against the coronavirus on April 23 with the Chinese businesswoman, Chen Lihua. According to the confidences of challenge.ma, she is the head of large construction and medical equipment companies in the Shandong province of China.
Her group would be "willing to build a hospital structure in Casablanca as soon as possible, in order to allow the region to cope with the pandemic". Better, "her industrial group is also willing to provide medical equipment and decontamination equipment to the region".
The Casablanca-Settat region is multiplying contacts in order to take advantage of strategies that have worked in the fight against the pandemic. It has established contacts with the Ningxia and Shandong regions, "which have responded promptly to this request by donating large quantities of screening tests and other health equipment, including artificial respirators that will be received in the coming days," said Mustapha Bakkoury.
He added that he is ready to intensify exchanges with territorial entities in China in order to strengthen economic and social cooperation between the two countries.
