Morocco’s Government Paralyzed: Over Half of Ministers Idle Amid COVID-19 Crisis

In Morocco, more than half of the ministers find themselves on technical unemployment due to the coronavirus raging in the country.
More than half of the ministers come to their offices daily without finding anything to do. This is because 80% of the productive sectors and services under their departments are almost at a standstill. Parliament has also decided to limit its relations with the Executive to 9 ministries out of 23, due to the health crisis.
These are the strategic departments: the Prime Minister’s Office, the Interior, Foreign Affairs, Health, Economy and Finance, Industry and Trade, National Education, Agriculture, Equipment, Logistics and Water, Relations with Parliament. The ministers in charge of these departments will be subject to oral questions and weekly sessions, in addition to the monthly oral session of the Head of Government.
