Morocco: a giant 6.7 billion dirham factory is emerging near Nador
The construction of a giant tire factory began this Friday in the province of Driouch. Several officials attended the launch of this project presented as the largest in Africa. On site, the work has started in the Betoya industrial acceleration zone for a planned commissioning as early as next year.
This large-scale industrial complex is carried by the Chinese group Shandong Yongsheng Rubber through its subsidiary Goldensun Tire Morocco. The investment amounts to approximately 6.7 billion DH for an installation covering an area of 52 hectares in the commune of Amjoud. This strategic positioning near the Nador West Med port should allow direct access to European and African markets, thus facilitating global exports.
The factory plans a production capacity of 18 million tires per year and should generate 1,737 direct jobs, not to mention the hundreds of indirect jobs created during the construction and operation phases. In addition to manufacturing, the site will include research and development centers to promote technology transfer and industrial innovation. This project is part of a dynamic of modernizing the country’s logistics infrastructure.
