Made in Morocco" drones starting in April

Morocco will launch, starting next April, the local production of suicide drones within an industrial unit located in Benslimane, near Casablanca. This project, carried by the Israeli group BlueBird Aero Systems, materializes the military and technological cooperation agreements signed between the two countries.

The Benslimane factory will be dedicated to the assembly of the SpyX model, an Israeli-designed aircraft for reconnaissance and precision attack missions. Before the start of operations, a Moroccan technical team underwent specialized training to master the manufacturing processes. The SpyX system is distinguished by a flight autonomy of two hours and a communication range of 50 kilometers.

This industrial establishment is part of the memorandums of understanding signed in November 2021, defining a framework for security and defense collaboration. These agreements follow the resumption of diplomatic relations between Morocco and Israel announced at the end of 2020. The partnership is strengthened by the involvement of the IAI group, which has held half of BlueBird’s shares since 2020.

The Moroccan production unit will thus allow the exchange of specialized knowledge in the field of security and the development of cutting-edge technologies on the national territory.
