Morocco Eyes Israeli Kamikaze Drones, Bolstering Defense Ties

Morocco would be interested in the new "Barb-X" kamikaze drone, developed by the Israeli company BlueBird Aero Systems. This acquisition, if confirmed, would consolidate Morocco’s position as a strategic partner of the Israeli defense industry.
According to available information, the "Barb-X" is a subjective view (FPV) suicide drone designed as a loitering munition, equipped with a 600-gram warhead. It can be used for attack, reconnaissance, surveillance, and intelligence gathering missions. The new drone from the Israeli company BlueBird Aero Systems could be compatible with the Bayraktar TB2 or other drones to increase its range and accuracy, reports Defensa.
Morocco has strengthened its military cooperation with Israel after the normalization of their relations in December 2020, within the framework of the Abraham Accords, under the auspices of the United States. Since then, the kingdom has acquired several military equipment from the BlueBird company, which is 50% owned by the giant Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), including the SpyX drone, which has recently been tested by the Moroccan Royal Armed Forces (FAR).
As part of the strengthening of this cooperation, BlueBird has announced its intention to open a drone production plant in Morocco, making the kingdom a potential base for the production and export of its systems in Africa. Despite the current context marked by the war in Gaza, Morocco continues to strengthen its defense cooperation with Israel, which has become its strategic partner.
