Ghizlane Chebbak, midfielder and captain of the Atlas Lionesses, was named best player or "Woman of the tournament" of the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations by the Confederation of African Football (CAF). On Saturday, Morocco finished as runners-up, after losing the final to South Africa at the Moulay Abdellah Complex in Rabat.
Despite their defeat in the final, the Atlas Lionesses remain one of the best teams in this AFCON with a brilliant run. Thanks to their performances, Ghizlane Chebbak and her teammates have qualified for the 2023 Women’s World Cup, scheduled from July 20 to August 20, 2023 in Australia and New Zealand.
A successful bet for coach Reynald Pedros who had confided in an interview that his dream "was to lead Morocco to the World Cup".
