Morocco’s Atlas Lionesses Face Nigeria’s Super Falcons in Crucial Women’s AFCON Semi-Final

The Moroccan women’s football team faces Nigeria this Monday, the number one African nation in the FIFA ranking, in the semi-finals of the 14th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations. The match is scheduled for 9 p.m. at the Moulay Abdellah complex in Rabat.
It’s a shock match, a final before the final. On paper, Nigeria is logically the favorite, with 11 African Cup titles out of the 13 editions of this trophy. It is therefore a major challenge for the Atlas Lionesses who will try to stop the Super Falcons to reach the real final of the competition. Authors of an excellent run to this stage, the protégés of Reynald Pedros will aim for a second feat, after qualifying for the 2023 World Cup.
To win this challenge, they are visibly ready according to the coach, who declared during the pre-match press conference: "The Nigerian selection is the strongest on the continent, it also holds the record in terms of African Cups won... However, anything is possible and we will have to give everything to defend our chances and go for the qualifying ticket to the final. We have no injuries, the team is complete. Tomorrow’s match will be different... we are going with a positive attitude and we are working to keep our cool in order to meet the challenge."
These words were confirmed by the captain of the national team, Ghizlane Chebbak, who assured that the Atlas Lionesses are even hungrier for victories. "Today, we are qualified for the World Cup, but the road is still long for us to be in the final... I feel a lot of happiness, because it is the fruit of many years of work and we were able to realize the dream of many people... We haven’t finished yet, there is still the semi-final and we would like to reach the final and have the Cup," she stressed.
