Morocco: Four Arrested in Connection with Brutal Beheading of Woman in Ifrane

Friday 4 January 2019, by Said

After the arrest of the alleged killer of a young woman in the Ifrane region, the police announced the arrest of three other people for complicity.

According to the newspaper Al Akhbar, the taxi driver who transported the victim on the day of the tragedy was arrested by the gendarmes. This is also the case for the employers of the alleged killer (a father and his son), who are in conflict with the victim over a plot of land.

As for the alleged killer, he is said to have killed his victim because she refused to marry him despite his insistence. On the day of the tragedy, he is said to have waited for her before slitting her throat and throwing the head into a well.

As soon as the body was discovered, several dozen police and gendarmes had gone to the scene, fearing a terrorist act just a few days after the death of two Scandinavian tourists.

The trial is scheduled to open on January 27.
