Morocco Foils Imminent Terror Plot: 7 ISIS Supporters Arrested in Anti-Terror Raids

A new anti-terrorist operation carried out by the services of the Central Bureau of Judicial Investigation (BCIJ) made it possible to thwart attacks that were probably imminent in Morocco.
In total, six people were arrested today in Salé and another, who would be related to the group, was arrested in the afternoon in Dakhla, in the south of the country.
In a statement released just after their arrest, the Ministry of the Interior indicates that the members of this cell have pledged allegiance to Daesh and "have adhered to the propaganda of this terrorist group while trying to acquire experiences in the preparation and manufacture of explosive devices in order to commit terrorist acts according to the destructive agenda of this group", which shows the dangerousness of these individuals.
During the searches carried out this morning in their homes, the police seized several electronic devices, bladed weapons including cleavers and knives as well as extremist manuscripts, the BCIJ said.
The 7 individuals (6 in Salé and 1 in Dakhla) have all been placed in custody pending their appearance in court. They face a sentence of up to the death penalty, as Morocco has significantly toughened sentences in terrorism cases.
