Morocco's Fès-Saïss Airport Reopens with 24 International Flights, New Safety Measures

The Fès-Saïss airport resumed its activities on Wednesday as part of the resumption of flights to and from Morocco. This first day of activity saw no less than 24 international flights (departures and arrivals) serving Moroccans living abroad.

Equipped with a new terminal prized by several airlines, Fès-Saïss Airport has put in place a battery of measures to resume its work and ensure healthy and secure reception conditions for travelers, said the director of Fès-Sais Airport, Noureddine Lagheni.

According to Lagheni, the arrangements are in place for compliance with social distancing between passengers, mandatory wearing of masks for travelers and staff, and the installation of hand sanitizer dispensers at various points in the airport.

He also emphasized the system for disseminating information and messages on compliance with barrier gestures through sound announcements, display screens and information panels. In addition, Noureddine Lagheni mentioned the floor markings, throughout the passenger’s journey, of signage stickers to organize the queues and ensure fluidity in the different areas of the airport.

Some Moroccans residing abroad (MREs), who arrived on Wednesday on a Royal Air Maroc flight from Paris, were keen to express their satisfaction with the system put in place to facilitate their participation in the "Marhaba 2021" operation. They thus saluted the royal gesture, which confirms "the high solicitude with which the Sovereign surrounds Moroccans of the world."

Indeed, since last Tuesday, in accordance with the directives of King Mohammed VI on facilitating the return of Moroccans of the world to the country at affordable prices, flights have been taking place to and from the kingdom as part of exceptional authorizations, given that the Moroccan airspace is still closed.
