Morocco Erects New Border Fence to Prevent Migrant Influx into Ceuta

Two months after the May migration crisis, caused by the massive arrival of migrants in Ceuta, Morocco has launched construction work on a new fence on its borders with Ceuta.
Morocco has launched the construction of new accordion fences on the Ceuta border in order to strengthen security in the coastal area of Tarajal and prevent any new massive entry of migrants into the city of Ceuta, as was the case on May 17 and 18 last.

The fences are being built by the auxiliary forces of the Royal Armed Forces and are raised by accordions aimed at deterring any potential migrants trying to illegally cross the border to enter the city of Ceuta.

This work is taking place in a context of crisis between Morocco and Spain, opened after the reception in Spain of the leader of the Polisario Front, Brahim Ghali, with in the background, the sensitive issue of the Sahara and the Moroccan claim of the cities of Ceuta and Melilla.
