Morocco Emerges as Top 4 Buyer of German Arms in Q1 2019

Morocco (temporarily no doubt) occupies the 4th place of arms importer supplied by Germany. Its orders in the first quarter of 2019 amount to a little more than 56 million euros.
According to the German daily Neues Deutschland, in the first quarter of this year, from January 1 to March 31, German arms exports fell by 900 million euros compared to the same period in 2018, currently standing at 1.12 billion euros.
The main buyers of German weapons are, in order: The USA ($169.1 million), the United Kingdom ($156.9 million), Australia ($87.8 million), Morocco ($56.1 million) and in fifth place Austria with a little less than the kingdom, namely $54.6 million.
Media24 writes on the subject: "Morocco is thus the 4th importer of German weapons between January and March 2019. In 2018, this place went to Saudi Arabia, with 416 million euros. But following the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi last November, Germany initially banned the export of its weapons to this Gulf country, before authorizing it again at the end of March."
