Siemens Wind Turbine Plant in Tangier Boosts Record €23.6 Billion Order Book

Since 2017, the Siemens Gamesa group has had a factory in Tangier for the manufacture of wind turbine blades, "100% made in Morocco". The group now has a record order book of 23.6 billion euros in the first half of its fiscal year, according to a press release. This augurs well for the group, which, moreover, will have earned 67 million euros in profits, on a turnover of 4.65 billion euros for the same period.
This fiscal year will certainly be among the most prosperous for the Siemens Gamesa group, given its good commercial performance. Indeed, according to the group’s press release based on the end of the first half of its fiscal year, which runs from October 218 to September 2019, Siemens Gamesa has a record order book of 23.6 billion euros at the end of March. An encouraging performance for the Tangier plant in particular, which can thus boast of a 7% year-on-year increase.
This is indeed a performance which, according to the managers "of the group gives greater visibility to future growth". Also, the press release points out, Siemens Gamesa recorded orders for "10.9 billion euros over the past twelve months (+8% year-on-year), supported by a solid performance in all segments". Moreover, the same source indicates that the 6% increase in turnover to 4.65 billion euros is due to the "offshore and services sectors".
If "Siemens Gamesa has become the first wind turbine manufacturer to obtain an Investment Grade rating", the press release nevertheless points out that the group’s net debt stands at 118 million euros as of March 31 last. As for the Tangier site, whose investment amounts to 100 million euros, "it produces B63-10 blades of 63 meters in length intended to equip the SWT-DD-130 turbines (up to 4.2 MW of rated power).
