Morocco Emerges as Key Player in Global Mask Production Amid Industrial Shifts

With large-scale production, Morocco, now engaged in the export of masks, is on the verge of becoming one of the big winners of the industrial relocation movement.
In addition to the label of good management of the covid-19 crisis, Morocco wants to claim the title of big winner in the export of masks, said the Franco-German channel Arte. Morocco has all the necessary assets to establish itself in the court of the big winners, because the country has stood out in the massive production of masks, the channel specified.
According to the same source, Morocco is now self-sufficient and has a safety stock thanks to a daily production of twelve million masks. Morocco is starting to export at rates not necessarily higher than the Chinese competition. The other asset noted by Arte is that the kingdom has mobilized and deployed its entire industrial apparatus to massively produce masks, even before the pandemic was officially declared by the World Health Organization (WHO).
All eyes are now turned to Morocco, which has become a reference in mask production. The television channel states, citing Ali Badaa, General Manager of a medical textile factory in Casablanca, that the kingdom has been approached by countries such as Spain, Sweden, Belgium, France, Italy and Germany, for the supply of masks. "Morocco is capable of doing much more than masks, things that are extremely more complex," Moulay Hafid Elalamy, Minister of Industry, Trade and Green and Digital Economy, confided to the Arte journalist.
