In Morocco, Electricity Poles Kill

The fall of electricity poles is the cause of several deaths in certain Moroccan provinces such as Taounate, Taza, Chefchaouen and Al Hoceima. Faced with this situation, activists are calling on the authorities to protect the lives of citizens.
Several tragic accidents have been recorded in certain Moroccan provinces due to the fall of some electricity poles to the ground caused by violent winds and the neglect to reinstall them.
The latest to date occurred in the Bni Rzine region of Chefchaouen. As a 35-year-old man was traveling by donkey on the road to his village, he was surprised by a fallen wooden electricity pole in the middle of the road, blocking his passage. He gets down and tries to move it, but he was injured by the weight of the electricity pole. He succumbs to his injuries before the arrival of the rescue services. On the orders of the justice system, the victim’s body was transported to the morgue for an autopsy. An investigation is underway to elucidate this tragedy.
Faced with this danger, activists from the provinces of Taounate, Taza, Chefchaouen, Al Hoceima, Sefrou and Boulemane have called on the authorities to protect the lives of residents of several villages.
