Morocco Edges Benin 1-0 in World Cup Qualifier Warm-Up Match

The Moroccan football team won with a score of 1-0 against Benin, this Monday, during a friendly match played at the Fez sports complex. This encounter served as preparation for the upcoming challenges of the Atlas Lions, namely the 2026 World Cup qualifiers and the final phase of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
For this match, coach Walid Regragui had made numerous changes to his starting lineup. From the start, the Moroccan team took control of the game and exerted constant pressure to try to score quickly. Facing them, the Benin team opted for a low defensive block, waiting to launch counter-attacks. Despite clear territorial dominance, Moroccan players lacked precision in the final touch, repeatedly running into the Beninese goalkeeper, who made several decisive saves.
The situation was resolved at the very end of the first half. During an offensive action, striker Ayoub El Kaabi managed to score with an acrobatic shot, allowing Morocco to lead 1-0 at halftime. This goal came to materialize the Moroccan domination before the break.
The second half followed a similar pattern. Morocco continued to control the ball, looking to score a second goal to secure their lead, while Benin remained focused on their defensive tasks. Walid Regragui made several substitutions to try to bring new offensive solutions, but his players failed to find the net a second time. The few Beninese attempts to equalize remained unsuccessful. The score therefore did not change until the final whistle, sealing the Moroccan victory.
