Morocco Edges Tunisia 2-0 in Friendly Match Ahead of AFCON and World Cup Qualifiers

The Moroccan national team defeated Tunisia (2-0) this Friday in Fez, at the end of a friendly match that remained undecided for a long time. This victory, obtained as part of the preparation for the 2025 African Cup of Nations and the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, was patiently built against a solid opponent.
In the first half, after a start initiated by the Tunisians, Morocco gradually took control of the game. Despite varied approaches, the Atlas Lions faced a well-grouped defensive block and a vigilant goalkeeper. The lack of efficiency on both sides logically led to a goalless draw at halftime.
Faced with a situation that was struggling to unfold after returning from the locker room, coach Walid Regragui modified his offensive strategy by bringing on Ayoub El Kaabi and Soufiane Rahimi. Their entry immediately brought a renewed energy and allowed Morocco to become more dangerous, as exemplified by Achraf Hakimi’s free kick that was saved by the Tunisian goalkeeper.
This pressure finally paid off in the 80th minute when Achraf Hakimi found the breakthrough for the opening goal. In stoppage time, Ayoub El Kaabi put an end to any suspense by scoring the second goal. Morocco will continue its preparation on Monday with a match against Benin.
