Morocco Edges Algeria 1-0 in U20 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifier
Morocco beat Algeria 1-0 on Friday on a poor pitch at the Chedly-Zouiten stadium in Tunis as part of the 2nd round of the U20 Africa Cup of Nations (North Africa zone) qualifiers.
Atlas Lion Mehdi Maouhoub scored the only goal of the match with a header in the 76th minute on a cross from Haitam Abidat. Sabeur Bensmain’s players went on the offensive but were held back by Zakaria Aboub’s protégés. The score was maintained until the end of the match.
Morocco thus has 3 points, far ahead of Algeria (1 point). Tunisia and Libya obtained 4 and 3 points respectively. Egypt has zero points. The top two teams will qualify for the final phase of the U20 AFCON to be held in Mauritania in 2021.
