Morocco Qualifies for 2022 Africa Cup of Nations After Group E Results

Morocco has qualified for the final phase of the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations, which will take place from January 15 to February 28, 2022 in Cameroon, after the draw between Burundi and the Central African Republic (2-2) in Group E of the qualifiers.
On Friday, Morocco faced Mauritania in Nouakchott for the 5th round of the 2022 CAN qualifiers. The match ended in a goalless draw (0-0). This score and the one recorded during the Burundi-Central African Republic match allow the Atlas Lions to secure their ticket for the continental cup in Group E.
Mauritania (5 points), Burundi (5 points) or the Central African Republic (4 points) must fight to obtain the second ticket. On Tuesday, March 30, the match between Morocco (10 points) and Burundi will take place on the facilities of the kingdom, while the Central African Republic will host Mauritania.
Morocco is thus one of the 15 countries already qualified for the final phase of the 2022 CAN. In addition to the kingdom, there are Cameroon, the host country, Senegal, Algeria, Mali, Tunisia, Burkina Faso, Guinea, the Comoros, Gabon, Gambia, Egypt, Ghana, Equatorial Guinea and Zimbabwe. 9 other participants will be added to this list before April 1.
In 1976, the Moroccan team had won a single Africa Cup of Nations in Ethiopia.
