Morocco Draws 2-2 with Thailand in Futsal Friendly Tournament Opener

The Moroccan futsal team started its participation in the 2022 Friendly Futsal Tournament on Sunday with a draw (2-2) against Thailand. The match between the two teams served as the kickoff to this continental championship taking place at the Indoor Stadium Huamark in Bangkok.

The Atlas Lions were determined from the start of the game, opening the scoring early with a goal by Saad Knia, following an organized action. But determined not to lose face in front of their home crowd, the Thais changed their strategy, equalizing a few minutes later.

The rest was a fierce struggle between the two teams. The Moroccan team was organized with a good game strategy and managed to create as many opportunities as possible, especially in the second half. But it was the Thais who scored the second goal, before the Atlas Lions equalized, thus snatching a draw.

The second goal for Morocco was scored by Abdelattif Fati. "We dominated the match and created the most opportunities," said Adil Sayeh, assistant coach of the Moroccan futsal team, noting that the goals of the opposing team were scored against the run of play. He also pointed out that not all members of the team have yet joined Thailand. "The team will be complete for the match scheduled for Monday against Mozambique." For him, "starting the championship with a draw gives motivation to the Atlas Lions to impose themselves in the upcoming matches."

This tournament is organized by Thailand and serves as preparation for the Asian Futsal Championship, which will take place from September 25 to October 20 in Kuwait. It is an opportunity for the Atlas Lions to train and review their game strategies, pending the official competitions.
