Morocco Advances to Futsal Championship Semi-Finals with 4-2 Win Over Mozambique

For their second outing in the 2022 Continental Futsal Championship, the Atlas Lions defeated Mozambique. The final score was 4-2 on Monday in Bangkok, allowing the men of Hicham Dguig to secure their ticket to the semi-finals.
Unlike the match against Thailand, Morocco dominated this match from start to finish, prevailing in all aspects of the game. The first goal of the Atlas Lions was scored by Driss Raïss El Fani, on a pass from Achraf Saoud. The same player managed, thanks to the fluid and offensive game developed on the field by Hicham Dguig’s men, to score a second goal, allowing Morocco to have a certain advantage over their opponent.
But a few minutes before the end of the first half, Mozambique saves face and scores their first goal, allowing them to go into the break with the hope that it’s not over. This was without counting on the determination of the Moroccan players who, upon returning from the locker room, did not want to let go, seeking to capitalize on the slightest opportunity. Soufiane El Mesrar scored the 3rd goal and Youssef Jawad dashed all hope for Mozambique by scoring the 4th goal.
The 2nd Mozambican goal will come before the end of the game but much too late against a strong, committed and determined Moroccan team. "We were able to win this match thanks to the efforts of our players, although they are tired from the trip," said Adil Habil, assistant coach of the Moroccan team. "This victory allowed us to win the three points of the match and thus qualify for the semi-finals of the championship," Habil specified.
Morocco is waiting to know its opponent, but in the meantime the players have two days of rest. The Moroccan national team is placed in group A alongside Thailand and Mozambique. Group B is made up of Iran, Vietnam and Finland. This friendly tournament organized by Thailand serves as preparation for the Asian Futsal Championship to be held from September 25 to October 20 in Kuwait.
