Morocco Dismantles Terrorist Cell: Six Arrested in Anti-Terror Operation

An anti-terrorist operation carried out simultaneously in Chefchaouen and in three neighborhoods in Dar Bouazza in Casablanca by the Central Bureau of Judicial Investigation (BCIJ) led to the arrest of six individuals as they were about to act, on Friday, October 25.
As the investigation is ongoing, it is difficult to draw conclusions at this stage. "At this stage, all I can tell you is that these arrests are the result of a long investigation," said a source from Medias24 requesting anonymity.
The two individuals apprehended in Chefchaouen are suspected of belonging to a terrorist cell that was about to carry out an attack. They had rented an apartment on Thursday, October 24.
Four other individuals were arrested in three neighborhoods in Dar Bouazza in the Casablanca region. Two alleged terrorists, aged 26 and 27, were apprehended in a villa they had rented last Saturday.
A third suspect, aged 20, was arrested in Douar Karia. He lived within a family of six people, who had settled in Dar Bouazza 2 months ago, according to the same source. The fourth suspect was arrested in Douar Benaabid.
The BCIJ is at work to establish the veracity of the facts attributed to the six individuals and to determine if they intended to commit a terrorist act at the time of their arrest.
