Moroccan Authorities Uncover ISIS Cell’s Hidden Base in Ouazzane Mountains

A hideout of the dismantled terrorist cell was located on Sunday, October 27, 2019. This location, located on the heights of Brichka, in the province of Ouazzane, would have served as a refuge for the alleged terrorists, once the act was carried out.
The site discovered by the elements of the Central Bureau of Judicial Investigation (BCIJ) also served to prepare the attacks.
Accompanied by three alleged terrorists, under heavy escort, the special forces, according to the press release of the BCIJ, toured the site in question, located at the level of the Douar Ben Hmed, and which would serve as a rear base for the terrorists.
The same press release reports that the seven arrested members belonging to the terrorist cell of the Islamic State were arrested on Friday by the BCIJ special forces, in the locality of Tamaris in the suburbs of Casablanca, in Ouezzane and in Chefchaouen.
According to the same source, the ringleader of the cell and two of its members had recorded two videos in which they pledged allegiance to the Daesh leader.
In the same videos, they also threatened to carry out terrorist operations in the Kingdom with a view to the proclamation of an affiliated wilaya of the terrorist organization, under the name "The Wilaya of Daesh in the Islamic Maghreb", the same source specifies.
In addition, live ammunition firearms and suspicious chemical products, subject to scientific expertise, as well as sums of money in foreign and local currency were also seized, following this dismantling, the BCIJ press release points out.
