Morocco Dismantles ISIS-Linked Terror Cell, Multiple Arrests Made

A terrorist cell was dismantled on Monday by the Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations (BCIJ). Several arrests were made.
Based on precise information, the cell, composed of members aged between 18 and 59, has been in the clutches of the bureau under the Directorate General of Territorial Surveillance (DGST) since this Tuesday.
The cell in question was active in Casablanca, Mohammedia and Azilal, according to a statement from the Ministry of the Interior. The members of this cell, associated with the so-called "Islamic State" organization, according to the initial investigations, have planned terrorist attacks with a view to setting up a wilaya affiliated with Daesh, the same source said.
All the suspected persons have been taken into custody, pending the continuation of the investigation, conducted under the supervision of the competent prosecutor’s office, to apprehend other accomplices, the statement added.
The operation is part of the continued efforts deployed for the security and stability of the Kingdom, the ministry concluded.
